Hey there. I have an old upright steinbach piano and i would like to know its age and what other brands it can be compared to. I found a card inside saying that it was worked on or sold on 12 december 1956 (it also said an amount per hour in pounds so this was probably in England. The rest of the card was torn off. I stay in South Africa). I couldnt see if it was from a workshop or a pianoshop. I found a number on the harp ( hope that its the serial number) 5329D. The piano is still in very good condition.

I'm not entirely sure you have the actual serial number. If you do...we're talking late 1800's to very early 1900's at best.

Regardless of the condition, there is really no value to this piece as an acoustic piano. That value vanished decades ago.

The pianos of today seriously outdo what was done in the era of this piano in terms of technology and acoustics.

The comparison would be against pianos made in England and Canada, neither of which were terribly good at making pianos.
