Today I am going to teach you the A Blues Scale. The scale is made up of the notes A, C, D, E sharp, E, G, and A. For right hand fingering, start on the A with your thumb. Move up the scale finger by finger until you hit the E sharp with your fourth finger. From there move your thumb under and use it to hit the E key. Continue with the second finger to the G and finish with the third finger to the A before working your way back down. Coming down, once your thumb hits the E key, move your fourth finger over and work your way back down from there.
The left hand fingering starts with the third finger on the A. When your thumb gets to the D key, move your fourth finger over to the E sharp and continue finger by finger until your thumb lands on the A key. As you work your way back down the scale, when your thumb get to the E sharp, bring the fourth finger under and finish the scale.
Like the scales before this one, practice it until you have it down. Practice on scales never ends once it's memorized though. Regular practice of scales will turn them into instinctual patterns that you'll be able to draw upon in your solos and improvisations without having to think about it.
