One way you can go about learning to play piano is from a teacher.  You must find a reliable and dependable piano teacher to ensure that you are given great lessons.  A teacher can give you your lessons at home or at a studio.  Choose a comfortable place in which to learn so that you won’t feel any pressure.  If your reason in learning to play is simply for fun, then hiring a piano teacher isn’t a good idea.  You can opt for less expensive lessons such as a piano book or DVD.

You must ask the piano teacher if he or she is teaching chord based lessons.  You must always set realistic goals for yourself before you find a good teacher.

Another option is to go with piano lesson software so that you can learn online.  It’s a cheaper alternative and you can choose the most convenient time to learn and to play in your chosen place.  You can save a lot of money and time by taking lessons online.  If you’re motivated enough, and you are comfortable learning alone, then this method will be great for you.

When taking your lessons and learning to play, you should have fun.  The entire learning process needs to be exciting and enjoyable for you.  Once you have set your goals, you can begin taking lessons immediately and practice regularly.  Do not allow yourself to ever become discouraged.  If you ever run across any problems when learning how to play the piano, just keep on going.  Don’t ever quit.

Having a positive outlook and attitude is the best method for learning anything---not just a piano.  With the right attitude, you can overcome challenges in learning notes or chords.  As mentioned above, ou can learn the chords first, and then the notes later on if you wish.  Start learning now and don’t waste any time.  If this is truly what you want to do, then go for it!
